SOLVED: Control Panel not showing up in backend

I've played around with older versions and can't figure this out.  I did a new install of 2.6.6, there was no installation on this site before.
I can access the control panel after install by clicking the "Go to the shop" button.  But I don't see where to access it after leaving.  It used to be under components.  All thats there now is virtuemart-aoi and that resolves to a place to update VM tables.  Did I have a bad install?  or am I missing something?
