Discount per quantity

VirtueMart has the great future to add prices depending on a certain quantity range. However, I'm in a situation that the quantity applies over a different types of this particular product

Example:

Box A costs 5 euro when 1 box is bought, whereas it costs 4 euro each when 2 < boxes are bought.
Box B costs 5 euro when 1 box is bought, whereas it costs 4 euro each when 2 < boxes are bought.

When a customer buys 1 Box A and 1 Box B, I'd like the price to be 4 euro as well. I've searched for some kind of category discount options, but these are - as far as I could find - not dependant on the quantity of items. I've also tried to make one product with multiple variants, but when putting 1x variant Box A and 1x variant Box B in my cart, no discount is applied either.

Is there a way to accomplish this, and if a plugin would be needed, whichone would this be?

In the 2nd case, you are not obligated to display your products into bundles. The discount is applied even if you add the products to the cart seperately
