Shorter Display Values for Generic Child Variant Dropdown

It would be nice if VM 2 had an option to input alternate display values for the generic child variant dropdown field. By default, it uses the full child product name as the value for each variant option in the dropdown, which makes the select field really wide on the page and hard to read the differentiated child products on smart phones. Some people prefer to have the company or manufacturer name in the product title for SEO reasons too.

For example, let's say a parent product called "XYZ Company Product" has child products titled as "XYZ Company Product Option 1", "XYZ Company Product Option 2" and "XYZ Company Product Option 3". On an iPhone or Android phone, it may automatically cutoff Option 1, Option 2, or Option 3 from the readability of the options in the select field, therefore making it impossible for the user to know which option is which. So it would be nice if the only displayed values were Option 1, Option 2 and Option 3 instead of XYZ Company Product Option 1, XYZ Company Product Option 2, etc. The perfect place to edit these values would be on the Parent Product page within the "Product Child Name" input fields.
