Specific categories dont show in cart

I am testing out a client site and  for some reason, there are certain categories of items that DO NOT get added to the cart.
All strange i must say because i have compared items on two screens from two different categories
and all settings are basically the same.

Using VM2.0x here

There are NO restrictions to where the items can be sold and even if i add them to the cart as an administrator,
category A (ADD TO CART) brings me to my shopping cart but no item is in it
category B (ADD TO CART) brings me to my shopping cart but that item is showing

if i add both items (from category A and B) to my cart, only B shows.

both have weights, and some dimension.
Im not sure what i am missing
