product category sorting is not working

I am using Ubuntu13.10, 64bit,  kernel 3.11.x, apache2.6.4, PHP 5.5.3, Joomla! 2.5.18 and VirtueMart2.0.26d, language packs de(german) are installed and enabled.

I have created 4 product categories and given them a sorting as could be seen in the f screen-shot from the back end(VirtueMart-> Product Category): category sorting.png

The problem is that the frontend do not represent the sorting order from the back end. It keeps on a lexicographic order(A,B,C...,Z), as could be seen in the screen-shot:  Categories.png

Both screen-shots are attached.

Expected behoviour: The front end should respect the back end settings.

Many thanks. Your links have helped. It is now working as it should. Sry, for the noise. It was looking like an issue to me.
