Possibility to add some notification in the cart area.

Hi,
Let's say we have last 3 pieces of specific product and we don't plan to continue to sell this product anymore (it will be phased out). Or we have some restricted quantity of specific product in special price. I'm looking for an option to notify the customers that this product is on offer while stocks last - notify them that the product will disappear from an current offer. I would like to place the notification in product details in the cart area (below the price). Some way would be placing a custom field with that notification, but how to force it to show up in the cart area?
