Checkout/Payment Loop on VM 2.0.26d?

Has the issue with OPC not been fixed on VM 2.0.26d?  When it is disabled, it appears to redirect to Paypal to complete the payment, but when I enable it, it constantly loops back to the checkout screen.  Is there a fix for this issue?  The suggested coding change in the method below seems to have already been updated in VM 2.0.26d.
