Does VM always require a weight?

I just want to confirm something. If I only have one shipping option, and I charge one prise for all shipping costs, do I still need to add a weight to all my products...or better question: is it always neccesary to add a weight to a product?

You do not need a weight if it is not used in shipping calculation.
