Does anyone else think the design of the   SALE  10%  graphic could lead the customer to believe the Sale for a product is literally off?
                                                                    OFF

Sure, the "SALE OFF" component on the left side of the graphic can be modified using Language Override, but is there a way to change the right side where the percentage discount is given?

Say,   SALE   10%
         PRICE  OFF

Now that's what I'm talking about.

And by the way, am I the only one that has a problem with the description "Sales price" when we get to the cart?
"Sale price" (without the "s" on the end, please) has gotta be the way to go there.
The word "sales" has a very different meaning to the word "sale", in English.

I guess it's back to Language Override for that one too

Which graphic (filename) are you talking about?
"Sales price" is the normal price the customer has to pay in most english speaking countries. "Sale price" probably is used rarely. Afaik most are using "Discounted Price" or "Reduced Price" or "Your Price", etc. (Not shure about Australia...  ;) )
