site url's include "mail" before domain name

Hi, I'm hoping this is a simple configuration issue, but all my url's read mail.langwines.com/... I'm running the latest VirtueMart 2.6.12.2, have sh404sef installed with default settings (url optimization), and global config using Search Engine Friendly URLs aud Using URL rewriting. Is there something I can do to get rid of "mail"?

Hi,

A quick follow-up: Under the SEO config tab, I checked the box "Translate Strings" and that seemed to solve the issue. Does this sound right to you? I ran thru a transaction under both a logged in user and guest, and seems to be working now. Thanks!

My first reaction would be dump sh404sef - totally un-nesscesary on a current Joomla/VM site

OK thanks. I'm new to VM, so not too familiar. This is a Joomla site I inherited and updated to 2.5.27. Is the consensus here that  sh404sef is still unecessary? Are there any other SEO plugins you prefer or think are valuable? Thanks again for the response.

IMHO you don't need any SEO plugins - everything is possible with a bit of thought about menu structure and aliases with just native Joomla and VM SEF

No longer need to use seo plugins with VM2

IN fact using seo plugins like sh404sef are likely to slow your site and have a negative impact
