Coupon Equal To Sales Price

VM 2.0.2 and VM 2.0.3.b JM 2.5.2

I have an issue with coupons that bring the cart total to zero. The paypal payment processor should just confirm the order instead of redirecting to paypal. I set up another payment method using VMstandard but the default status code is "P" which means I have to change the status manually. I changed the "P" to "C" but that won't do.

If there was a line of code added in VMstandard.php around line 149:
   return $this->processConfirmedOrderPaymentResponse(true, $cart, $order, $html, $dbValues['payment_name'],'P');
To be something like:
if {some php stuff I don't know (a coupon was used) AND (the cart total is actually zero)
      then    return $this->processConfirmedOrderPaymentResponse(true, $cart, $order, $html, $dbValues['payment_name'],'C');
else
   return $this->processConfirmedOrderPaymentResponse(true, $cart, $order, $html, $dbValues['payment_name'],'P');
some other php stuff I don't know};

I'm having a similar issue with the "Standard" payment method.

I have Shopper Groups set up for Members (Members pay through OSE Membership). Members get certain products for free. I was able to set that up using Shopper Group specific pricing. But when the Member checks out, the Order Status needs to be manually changed. I need it to change to confirmed upon checkout if the balance is zero.

If the balance due is zero, no matter what the payment method is, the order should be confirmed, in my opinion.

Anyone have a solution for this? Doesn't it just make sense that VM would work this way by default?

BTW, I'm using VM 2.0.6, Joomla 2.5.5.

There is a much easier solution to this problem. Why not create a new Payment option and call it "zero balance" or "gift certificate payment". Set the minimum and the maximum amounts of that option to zero. and that's it!
