Customer Text Input shows static text

Using Joomla 1.7 and VM 2.0.6
I created a custom field using the instructions from http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/wiki/Product_custom_fields_Plugin_Customer_Text_Input

The product doesn't show a text box where the shopper can enter custom information (in this case their child's name). It shows the field description instead. Is it a template issue or something else i'm missing? (i'd like to create a variety of fields so that parents can enter participant info for each sport/child

hello, i have tried doing this and it works fine, could you go into your backend and attach a image for your settings for it.
the one issue i am having is when you type in the box and add to cart, in the cart you get the title repeated: ID Tag ID Tag (named it id tag), which i guess is a bug, could someone please clear this up for us.

does it work if you remove the layout position? if so i am guessing its a bug or doesent support any other location.
other then that i dont know what elise you could try.

dont think its that through mine works with or without the ontop, also when i set it up it, it put textinput in the default box.

i also get the following on my product page instead of the vmcustom_text input
Custom Field Text Input

but all rest is the same.

very strange, sorry i cant be much more help, if i think of anything elise i will get back to you.

wonder if its a joomla 1.7 and virtumart 2.0.6 issue.
my virtumart is: 2.0.6
joomla is : 2.5.4

if you have a test server might be worth trying the new joomla, if i get chance i try and get 1.7 and try it.

Actually, i had put that in as an attempt to make it work. I get the same results with or without it.

The upgrade worked (but also realized i probably need to use a language file for this).  Thanks for the help
