Weird link to deleted shipping and payment methods in invoice

Hello again,

Weird problem with shipping and payment methods. the problem only shows on the order, invoice and billing but is not present in the cart. I am using a commercial template that came with dummy data including a dummy shipping and a dummy payment. I deleted both and added my own payment and shipping methods. For a while all went well but suddenly tonight the test orders I was making had a whole paragraph of lorum ipsum text for both the shipping and payment section of the order, invoice and billing sheet. My new methods show ok, have completely different names and descriptions but seem to be overriden by what I thought were deleted methods.

I dont see any option to flush a cache of these methods or to specifically empty trash here but it does look like a database issue?
I checked mysql tables as I thought I was mad but there are only my methods in there not the old ones.

VM 3.016 and Joomla 3.6.2.

Any help appreciated, I am going around in circles.

checked the plugins lang tables a s well?  e.g. #___virtuemart_paymentmethods_en_gb  etc

I still couldn't get the plug in virtuemart media clear to do anything and so I uninstalled it. the problem went away. Perhaps magic, but the checkout is now back with the correct settings. thanks for suggestions.
