VM 2.0.6 Fresh Install White Page

Greetings, I hope someone can help - I have searched but don't see a solution.
After installing the first of the two .tar files via the extension manager (Joomla 2.5..4), I get a white screen and it does not install at all.

It may be that your server is unable to cope with installing standard .tar.gz file packages, so try unpacking it locally and then converting to a .zip package. See if that installs.
