How to show products in a catagori?

I have recently migrated from Joompla 1.5 and also VM 1.19, but where Joomla is migrated, VM is a new installation 2.06 and I can not get anything online in the catagories

I have set up several catagories and just one test product which should appear in the menu link I have created.

I create the menulink as a Virtuemart Catagory layout and point it to my VM Catagori. Should that not show the products inside ?

Im on Joomla 2.54 and VM2.06. PHP 5.3

Any help will be appreciated

If Using Multilanguage

IF a product is ONLY filled in in the english part,
and your site default is french.
The products wont show


IF: You assign products to shopper groups, the same can happen.

More than likely its a shopper group issue.

Still have a lot of problems understanding shoppergroups, or in other words.

Next lines are maybe a bit off topic but here it comes anyway

Are there any written about this in plain english to help me understand it better. 

I have a lot of users which I migrated into VM2 which are all set as "Author" in Joomla 2.54 and in shoppergroup "default" in VM2
All these users I would like them to have access to prices checkout etc.

All user who are not logged in or users that have registered themself in frontend cannot be allowed to see prices or checkout.
