Adding Product Technical Data

I'm wanting to add technical data to all of my virtuemart product pages to display about 15 sets of numeric data, relating to each product. For example its length, weight etc etc.

I have created custom fields for each piece of information. When I choose the custom fields in the product, enter the information and then click save the custom fields either disappear leaving only the parent heading or jumble up into a random order. On the odd occasion it will save and display correctly but this is rare.

Can any one help me understand why this is happening and suggest how to solve this problem please.
