SSL Connections Problems

Hello everyone I am new to the site, and I am setting up a virtumart 2.02 with aio 2.02 store for a client. My issue are two.

SSL from godaddy is turned on for both scenarios.

Scenario 1
settings: The option to have a SSL connection in the configuration panel in virtuemart is ON.
outcome: The customer can checkout and gets redirected to paypal through a secure connection. When the same customer returns to the site and visits the cart https is stuck ON. Customer can navigate the site on https mode, but the add to cart function does not work.

Scenario 2
settings: The option for a global SSL is on through the Joomla menu, under the server tab.
outcome: The whole site is now on https but the add to cart function does not work.
