I need to show a slideshow for products on the product page.
is there any plugin for the same.

There are lots of options and free extension for slide shows of products . You can also purchase them too.
You need o look in Joomla dn Virtuemart exctensions and lots of Tempate designers doa variety of versions.
Configuartion of what each does may be dirrerent ?
If you want click and then jump to that product they were available in 1.5 and I'm sure you will see these versions.
You can use the Product Module and create your ow template, and wrap it
