Title: Unicode aliases impact on Google indexing ?
Post by: 100gods on February 29, 2012, 14:08:35 PM
Using Joomla 1.7 and VM 2.0.0

Global configuration extract:
SEF URL - yes
URL Rewriting - no
Add suffix to URL - yes
Unicode aliases - no

Manufacturer URL appears as follows:

http://www.giftingbazaar.com/index.php/component/virtuemart/manufacturer/2012-02-28-03-55-45417216175.html
How to get rid of "component/virtuemart/manufacturer/2012-02-28-03-55-45417216175" and replace with

Also, whenever I generate sitemap, indexing in google is seriously affected as it seems date of site update is "filled" in the URL links, which makes earlier links indexed in google redundant. All these pages are marked as "Not Shown" in google webmaster tools.

Please help.

Thanks.

...would probably be fixed if you update to J2.5.1/VM2.0.2 and click on "Install tables and if necessary update them" at 'Tools & Migration'
