Title: demo homewares site J1.5.25 & VM1.1.9
Post by: john1974 on February 23, 2012, 00:59:25 AM
Hi (first post). This is my first VM site (in fact it's my first Joomla site ever). I started learning J1.5.25 & VM 1.1.9 because it appeared to be the best (maybe only) solution to correctly display Australian GST (alongside other countries TAX calculations). I learned that security updates will no longer be supported in J1.5.x as of next month so now I'm almost back to square one trying to recreate this site in J1.7 & VM2.0.2. Anyone else undertaking a similar upgrade and wants to share any tips or experiences?

The website looks ok for me, but I would change de logo to something more stylish, and the colors of the menu are a bit rare, anyway, great job.

I didn't know about the security updates on 1.5.X, sad! I'm actually afraid of upgrading!

Thanks for the feedback (it is appreciated) and I agree about the menu & logo (there is still work for me to do convincing the client haha). With all the sites built on 1.5.x, I would have thought there would be more discussion (I guess it's still early days). I hope to find solutions to the problems the upgrade will present for me. Regarding my Australian GST compliance problem, I'm starting to think I'm going to need to find a php guru who is also familiar with VM to get what I need done (and show me how to apply the hacks to any of my future VM sites). Anybody know a php/VM guru with time for a small project?
