i was just wondering, is e-go a new transport company and how good are they?

They are around a long time in Aussie - did a VM1.1. ship mod for them over 3 years ago..

You can see them here - http://www.e-go.com.au

seem to be cheaper than AusPost for heavier long haul -> Perth for example

Is it possible to use this extension if no dimensions are specified for products, only weights?

Yes - there's a setting "Std Vol"

"Use this if you want a std volume for all items. Useful if you don't want to have L H W for all products. AusPost only uses weight to calculate the fee but there is a maximum length of 105cm"

Thanks, will likely be purchasing in the new year (=

I think for bulky but light items aus post cubes out the dimension to get a weight, I cant remember the exact formula.

Yes, AusPost charges by weight except as you say bulky and light where it calculates a LxHxW = std Weight.
But the "Std Vol" setting just sends 20x20x20 for everything (parcel - cm) or  200x200x0.5 (letter - mm)
The over length check is still used if you have some products with dimensions
