"It migrates for you the shoppergroups, categories, manufacturers, manufacturer categories, the products and orders. "
And users???
yes

I did the migration as outlined but have not been able to get my product pics synced up. I went to the media area where it asked to sync m pics and I did that a few times until they were all done. Problem is they are not assigned to any products, ANSI suggestions?
curt, did you move your images over into teh right folders first?
To get the best result follow this steps:
* Install virtuemart on a test installation to see how it works.
* If possible, increase the "max_execution_time" time and the "memory_limit" parameters in your php.ini file, so that the migration / update script gets executed without timing out.
* rename your old com_virtuemart folders.
* Move your media into images/stories/virtuemart and there in the right subfolders. (category, manufacturer, product, vendor)
* Disable the Joomla debug option in the Joomla configuration and if installed Akeeba System - System Restore Points.
* Disable ALL old virtuemart 1 extensions
* Set your default joomla frontend language to the one used in the description of your products. It is important to do this step before updating VirtueMart for installing the correct default VirtueMart languages tables.
* Install VirtueMart 2 directly with the joomla installer
* Install the AIO component. It contains all the plugins and the modules related to VirtueMart.
* Go to the administrator, set the language(s) for your store, even if your store is not multi ligual and save the VirtueMart configuration.
* Enable The "Enable database Update tools" in Virtuemart Configuration
* Go to Tools/Tools & Migration "Migration" Tab
* Choose "Everything" and click "Start Migration"
* Click "Start Migration" as many times as it takes for all products to migrate
Ty for the good description. My problem is, that I have 24.000 Products in the database and about 1000 Categories and 6.000 Product Pics. Did everything like you said. but the Max_execution Time ist not enough. The Hoster (a quite good Joomla Speshitpillt with a VServer) rised the Max_execution Time to 120. It stops by 1900 Media.....
Is there a work around to get the Media Data in the new Database, perhaps in several Steps... ist there any experience with bigger Shops?
Ty Markus
The Data:
Error:
Start with a new migration process and setup log maxScriptTime 95 maxMemoryLimit 89.6
1938 Media für product im Verzeichnis images/stories/virtuemart/product/ synchronisiert
Worked on migration for 95.1022138596 seconds
Migration finished
vmError: Attention script time too short, no time left to store the media, please rise script execution time
Setting:
j 1.5.24
vm 1.1.9 > vm2.0.1
The Problem ist still there, even with 1200 Sec max_execution Time... Now it ends up with an Internal Server Error.... Any Idea or suggestions how to Move a bigger Shop?
Disable vmdebug, disable joomla debug,
wait for the next version, we found some errors (yeh Patrick is also migrating a biiig store :-) . For example we removed automatic thumbnail generation, so I can import on my computer 1600 medias in 20 seconds. Before it migrated only 100 (thumbnailing costs time).
But it should work for you. The migrator is resuming... a low execution time is boring, but not a problem. We are going to add a js todo the restart automatically.
Thx for the Informations! It helps me a lot and saves my time. But the new data base Structure looks good to be, even for bigger Shop. Im am really looking forward to test the new version with our shop, escpecially testing the perfomance. :-)
