Title: Import tools for Virtuemart 2.0.0
Post by: goldenprizm on December 22, 2011, 09:04:53 AM
I am in the process of building a new virtuemart store with version 2.0.0 and joomla 1.7.

I see  there are no import tools available for the new version.  Correct me if I am wrong.  I know I can use the migration tool but i still need to import and export on a daily basis. Does anyone have a recommendation on how I would import in bulk.   I am surprised virtumart doesn't have a built in tool.

Anyway if you could lead me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it.

FYI...CSV Improved does not support your new version.

Database tools like phpMyAdmin or HeidiSQL, etc. all support importing various formats, including CSV.
VM2 has built in support for SOAP webservices. Maybe this third party tool would be something for you: http://www.virtuemart-datamanager.com/ (http://www.virtuemart-datamanager.com/)

Hello,
CSV Advanced (http://joomdonation.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=110&Itemid=136) will help you to import data from CSV files into Virtuemart 2.x.
Sincerely, Giang

Of course there is CSVI (http://www.csvimproved.com) the long time import/export solution for VirtueMart and now also supports other components and VirtueMart add-ons.

There is new component for importing XML or CSV product feeds: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/migration-a-conversion/data-import-a-export/22722 (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/migration-a-conversion/data-import-a-export/22722).

I use it at one of my e-shops and it works fine. It was little bit hard to set it up at first time, but since it is paid product it has great support which helped me out.
