Hi,
I have an "old" bug (the same for thoses that try to use VM1 on Joomla 1.6 or 1.7) , but me i use the last pre release of VM 2.0 ( la 1.9.8M) on a brand new joomla 1.7.0 english.
Installation is ok but after i have :
No Shop Currency defined! Contact the administrator, if your are one go to http://"myurl"/administrator/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user&task=editshop
and after if i click : Fatal error: Call to undefined method JLanguage::getBackwardLang() in /www/administrator/components/com_virtuemart/compat.joomla1.5.php on line 78
in fact he wants me to be on J 1.5 !! :o
other bug , i don't have the admin menu for VM in joomla , the installation was ok, but no menu !
Thanks
You have to select your currency in the admin area... And when the program show an error in the frontend its telling you what you have not set in the backend or admin area. Just click on the link and it will redirect you to the area that you have to set!
For the menu not showing you need to edit your database and remove the the virtuemart link thats there , then reinstall virtuemart 1.9.8m . The menu problem is related to Joomla 1.7 and not Virtuemart. Alot of people is running into the menu problem.
I can edit my database but which link to remove ? can you be more clear ?
Can i put the currency (euro) directly in MySql to avoid the error also , it could more more easy ?
It seams the same trouble as many guys : http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=90927.0
scoody, update to the latest version. and see what happens.
ALSO, click in the migrator tool
"Install tables or update them if necessary"
I check this morning and don't see newer release ... I'm in the latest release already as it's a fresh install : virtuemart1.9.8.RC2M_extract_first.zip
So i have installed the migrator tool , (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/3895/details ) and i have the error :
Fatal error: Class 'JSimpleXML' not found in /homez.56/topvu/www/administrator/components/com_mtwmigrator/views/cpanel/view.html.php on line 24
scoody, you are doing it wrong.
IF you wanna bring vmart over to a new installation.
EXPORT the database, and import into the new one.
THEN, move images over.
THEN, if you wanna bring content over. USE
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/migration-a-conversion/joomla-migration/15807
and
I'm having the same problem.
I've updated to Joomla 1.7.3 and tried to install VM again.
Same messages. It says successful, but Virtuemart doesn't show in the components menu which I am fairly certain is what was referred to as deleting deleting a link in the db then reinstalling.
Which link do I need to delete, as in table, etc?
Thanks.

did you "discover" in your extensions manager?
If i discover in menu extension , it says nothing to discover ...
have you cleared cache, your browser history etc?
I think I found one answer for these different problems.
