The cart is not saving the contents after logging out. Is there an admin setting I need to set to enable saving the cart contents after log out?
Thanks,
Chuck
You need to set "remember me" when you login. The cart is stored in the joomla session. So you must ensure that the joomla session is used.
Hi Milbo,
I did that and it still does not save the cart contents when I log off and log back in. Is there some other admin setting I need to set? You can try it yourself at http://www.designerfurniturecenter.com
Thanks,
Chuck
Any idea what's wrong?
Updated to VM2.0.1.d and this still does not work.
Updated to VM2.0.1.K and this still does not work.
Updated to VM2.0.6 and this still does not work. My customers are upset. When will this be fixed?
Cas, when the user logs out it clears the session.
Why are they logging out when they have items in their cart?
Hi Banquet,
My customers log out for many reasons... Maybe they are just not ready to buy at that moment, or maybe they go to lunch. I had a shopper just this morning who needed more time to decide the quantity of each item to buy. When she figured out the quantities and came back to my site later, the cart was empty! She needed to find all the items again and go through the entire process twice. Understandably she was not happy and I almost lost the sale. I'm sure I have lost many other sales because of this basic cart problem. I know for example when I shop online at Amazon and eBay, I save items to my cart all the time, and then I look if I can get the items cheaper someone else, and if not, then I come back to eBay or Amazon and I expect the items to be in my cart when I log back in. My customers expect the same basic functionality with my website. Can you help solve this problem?
Thanks,
Chuck

Hi John,
Thanks for the tip, but I don't need a wish list extension. I just need the VM cart to save the contents when the user logs out, like every other eCommerce site on the market does.
No, you just should rise the session time of joomla to an hour or 2.
Hi Milbo,
If they log out, the cart is immediately empty. That's the problem. They might come back to buy the next day, so Joomla session time isn't the problem. Is it not possible to do like all other eCommerce systems and save the cart contents?
Hmmm the cart is stored in the session, the session is stored in the db.
And should it work also for anonymous?
Hi Milbo,
When I look at the session table for a logged in user with a product in the cart, I do not see any cart info in the session table. How do I get the cart info into the session table?

Hi John, good find!
Hi Milbo, do you have a fix yet for saving the cart?
Hello
Do you know a free virtuemart-save-cart-plugin ?
I've just upgrade to VM 2.0.6 and cart still not save!
Any idea?
Hi Milbo, do you have a fix yet for saving the cart?
Yep, I have a similar problem with a 3rd party extension. The programmer told me that everything is hold in the session table and when somebody logs out everything is lost. I understand this and i like that no cookie is stored with this info, but big e-shops retain the cart and this is very very useful.
Is still possible to maintain cart without cookies and get session "paused"?
Try this. It doesnt depend on session, and cookies.
