Hi Forum-

Hopeing someone can point me in the right direction here...

I use VM as an online food takeaway ordering system and I need to be able to close checkout during specific times (i.e restaurant opening times)

Is this possible to do?

Or can anyone recomend something that will allow me to flag this to my customer.   A banner on my site and opening times thoughtout my website does not seem to deter customers from placing orders when the restaurant is closed.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

You can put your store offline in Virtuemart
-> Goto your back end
-> Virtuemart Configuration
-> Global tab -> Shop is offline?

Put Joomla site offline
goto your backend -> Site -> Global Configuration -> Site tab, you will see
Site Offline :        No   Yes
Offline Message :     Text to show when your

Now Joomla allows you to put the site offline and online manually.
If you want we can build a plugin for you where you can set from Monday to Sunday and from what time to what time to put your site offline automatically.

Hi many thanks for your reply.  I had actually thought about this option, but I still want me site to be 'browsable' during closed times, as it more than just an online ordering website. I just dont want my customers to be able to place an order so I need to stop the checkout facility only during closed times.  Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Many Thanks

-> Check box Use only as catalogue            

So shopper will not able to add product to cart or checkout. But then again it is manual configuration.

Hi - just going back to your post stating VM does not allow site to go offline -    There is actually an option in admin under configuration > global > shop is offline.  Would it not be possible to write such plug to interact with this feature rather than joomla global config settings?

I have just corrected it.
Yes, we can create a plugin to put store in catalogue mode by configurable options from monday to sunday and from what time to what time.
