I'm really new to web development and have been working on this site on my days off from work.

Hi there, you have done a cracking good job of your site.
I do like the clean lines, uncomplicated, a good site to navigate through as well.
I did notice on your checkout though it was returning a page not found, a 404.
It may be me that you have selected 'Search Engine Friendly URLS' in the Joomla Global Configuration admin panel.
I had this same problem and it was solved by de-selecting that checkbox.
In fact there are 3 options in that group, you are best off with none selected.
Sorry I've gone on a bit... ;D
