Title: Gourmet Hampers Australia Site
Post by: bwendo on January 15, 2010, 01:26:07 AM
Hi,
Please review and comment on http://www.huntervalleyhampers.com.au  (http://www.huntervalleyhampers.com.au) our VirtueMart.  Am trying to soak up as much information as possible so I can improve as we go along.
The site is a couple of months old and we would love feedback.
Plans are to reduce the purchase order from two pages to a single page for ease of processing in the warehouse (two pages is clumsy and invites error) and to make things simple and effortless for our customers.
Cheers

Hmmmm - what can I say - from a pure visual perspective it is nice, colours and images look good. However, I stopped looking after I saw the home page.

And why did I do that - there was nothing above the fold that 'hooked' me. No Specials, no offers. Nothing to tempt me to go further. You have seconds to attract buyers. You need to treat the home page as a kind of 'shop window'. Present stuff that you want to sell and attract buyers where we can see them. Your logo is far to big and using up valuable screen real estate.

I like the design of your site. The only thing I can add is that the site took a while to load which may detract customers.

Looks good. Really like the fact it has a unique look. Really like the VM layouts.

Two picky things....... I would remove the underline from the hover over the categories (looks too normal for such a unique site). Also, I personally find odd shadows hard on the eye. The shadow of the top section is nicely done, but then the main area sits there shadowless, almost unreal. Based on the cool design, I'd probably remove the top area shadow. May seem silly to others, just my thing.

That looks like a well thought out design, and it fits in pretty well. Keep up the good work.

I thik Mike is right about the underline on the hover over the categories.
