Post by: hhtmp88 on November 22, 2009, 16:26:53 PM
Dear all,

How to config VM so that it can function as a simple paypal module with optional registration request?

I have just installed VM1.1.4 and Joomla1.5.15

Thanks for any kind of help!

On check out you will see the option to register or not.
The customer can choose.
I believe in the configuration you can set it.

The User Registration Settings are found on the VirtueMart "Configuration" page, "Global" tab.

Under "VirtueMart", "Administration", "Configuration", "Global" tab; scroll down to "User Registration Settings":

Your options are...

1) Normal Registration
This is the standard registration type where the customer must register and choose a username and password

2) Silent Registration
Silent Registration means the customer doesn't need to choose a username and password, but those are created automatically during registration and sent to the provided email address.

3) Optional Registration
Optional Registration let's the customer choose whether he/she wants to create an account or not. If the customer wants to create an account, a username and password must be chosen.

4) No Registration
Customers don't need to and are not able to register in this type of registration.

I like to use silent registration to make it transparent the first time and easier the second time by allowing them to use their saved information by logging in.

Thanks kreativeone for your detailed instruction!
but...

Registration is still required:
======================================
"Info: You are not a Registered Customer yet. Please provide your Billing Information."

======================================
-> so have I missed something?

Thanks for any kind of help!

Interesting... I tried (in a test environment) setting it to "No Registration" and it does indeed imply that you are registering with the site. It does not actually create a Joomla/VirtueMart user account in the database and it doesn't send an email to the user with a username and password.

I am using Joomla 1.5.14/VirtueMart 1.1.4.  I do not get the same message ("Info: You are not a Registered Customer yet. Please provide your Billing Information."). When I add an item to the cart, click on checkout, it asks me for "Customer Information" and "Bill to Information" and "Send Registration" with the "Send Registration" button.

Today, I can replicate what you have said by setting it to "No Account Creation"

Thanks Kreativeone!

By the way, if I want to remove some of the "Bill To information", which file should I working on?
