Title: Pending, no Confirm issue with PayPal

There seems to be many questions on this subject, but no real answers. So I'm asking existing shop owners how are they dealing with the continue "pending" orders that are produced. Are you manually changing them to "confirmed." Is the problem fixed once we stop using the sandbox mode? Any advice here would be great, I'm ready to go live with the site. Thanks.

It does not work for me either (and I read all related threads).

When I set "status for pending payments" to pending, the return url (from paypal) shows success message, however the order status does not change.

when I set "status for pending payments" to confirmed, the returl url shows a failure message. Needless to say, the order status is not changed to confirmed either.

I fixed this eventually. As it turned out, my hosting provider disabled outgoing connections so the "notify.php" script could not make a connection to paypal website.

FYI: All my settings were the same as the moderator's screen shot above except for "Accept only verified buyers? I changed my setting to "yes" and it now works for me. Good luck.
