Title: [off topic]About Virtuemart and Joomla 1.6 future
Post by: joao_neto on July 15, 2009, 20:28:38 PM
Hello!
Some changes in the future release of Joomla is the end of leggacy mode. ( http://www.theartofjoomla.com/home/5-commentary/77-lifting-the-lid-on-joomla-16.html )
Components like Virtuemart and DocMan will not work in Joomla!

The Virtuemart team have any plans for a future release? In the change of Joomla 1.0 to 1.5 the code of virtuemart don't change ( only fixs ).

I have some plans to a new Ecommerce component to joomla 1.6... But instead I can help if a future version if the code is rewritten to the standards of joomla 1.5/1.6!

The virtuemart have a plan?

Hello,

We need all the help we can get, the next version of VirtueMart 2.0 will be a complete rewrite you can find some info here http://dev.virtuemart.net/cb/wiki/3231 in coming weeks we will have a better direction as how 2.0 will look and developed, if you are located in Europe you could attend VirtueMart day http://www.joomladay.de/programm/uebersicht-virtuemartday.html where we will discuss 2.0 or even show an alpha version (but don't hold me to it)

If you are interest you can join the team for more info see http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=20780.msg95533#msg95533

Virtuemart 1.5 will be a fully MVC compliant release of VM.  This release will also heavily utilize the Joomla framework.  Once Joomla 1.6 is released we will be looking into implementing some of the new things they are doing in the framework.
