Title: Ecommerce Site: Prelaunch Joomla 1.5, VM 1.2. Feedback Welcome!!!!!
Post by: fastbox on September 07, 2008, 19:55:31 PM
This site was designed using Joomla 1.5.6 and VirtueMart 1.2. There are several other components and modules, some open source, some commercial, and some custom, so if you have any questions feel free to ask. I would love any feedback that you have before we start marketing next week.

SEF URL's done using SH404SEF http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,2380/Itemid,35/ (http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,2380/Itemid,35/)

Site looks GREAT! How the heck did you get the SEO friendly URLs to work? I'm leaving that for last because I have had major frustration.

I'm running Joomla 1.5.2 and VM 1.1.2.

Slick top navigation! Where did you get that?

A few comments from a UI perspective:

Site does look awesome man.  Great job ;)

Yes I as well would like to know how you got the SEO Friendly URLs to work.  I cannot seem to get mine to work at all.

Thanks.

ps Also agree with ltllzrd about the advetising on the bottom.

Thanks!
1. Yeah I looked for an option of not displaying VM logo in the empty minicart, but there is no option so i guess I can try to find the code and manually remove it.

2. I have tried to make the showcase only display on the frontpage so that users would not have to scroll down, but I'm getting a bug. For some reason, even when the showcase is set to frontpage only, if you click any link on VM, it displays the slideshow, and the top menu says your on "home" again. Still trying to pinpoint the problem.

3. I'm not very familiar with VM code so I don't know how to personalize the categories etc. For instance, when seeing a list of products, every other product has a dark shade behind it, but the shade is very light. I wish I knew how to make this darker.

1. Easy fix.
components\com_virtuemart\themes\default\templates\common\minicart.tpl.php

Comment out line 7 through 9 - you'll see the image call for the menu logo. Or you could replace menu_logo.gif with your own logo or just an empty shopping cart or something. (stored in components\com_virtuemart\shop_image\ps_image)

2. Keep working at it. Is that showcase a 3rd party plug in?

3. You need to look for:

tr.sectiontableentry1 td, td.sectiontableentry1 {template_css.css (line 187)
background:#b9298b none repeat scroll 0%;
height:27px;
}

in the template_css.css file (your Joomla template css) and just change that background to #b9298b.

Fastbox I like your site template a lot. the pages loaded up fairly quickly as well.

Who did you hire to make your custom template?
