Title: [FIXED] Currency selector module, how to ...
Post by: aravot on November 04, 2007, 00:25:30 AM
VirtueMart 1.1 r1031

In backend currency selector module, where it says 'The currencies to display:' how to write / separate currencies so it would show in frontapge, I tired using comma, semi-colon, plus symbol, space none worked (e.g USD, CAD, GBP)

Pre-text won't show either.

I'd like to test 1031 but ut will not run in J1.0.13 or J1.5

What's the trick to get it running?

You'll need to start fresh.

I have worked through this now, using J1.0.13 and VM rel 1049

I selected 3 currencies to use in Shop edit and left UD$ as the primary currency. The Albanian Lek, British Pound and US Dollar. On publishing the currency selector module, without entering anything in the module the currency converter worked, displaying Albanian Lek, British Pound and US Dollar in the selector menu. The product prices displayed as $, ALL or GBP - the second two being the 3 letter currency codes in the currency table.

So it works without entering anything in the Currency selector module if those currencies are selected in Shop edit. If you do enter anything there it must be the three letter currency codes, separated by commas. So ALL,GBP,USD entered means that the currencies are displayed as above. But enter ALL,BP,USD causes Albanian Lek and US Dollar to display in the currency selector, British Pound is not there.

If no currencies are selected in shop edit then they can simply be enterd in the Currency selector mod, using the 3 letter codes and they will then appear in the selector.

I just noticed that Pretext in the currency mod does not work.

Hope all this makes sense???

Hi Gentleman,

so maybe it's not me... I just installed virtuemart 1.0.11 and j1.5 and have "select a currency converter module" set to default which is convertECB.php but there is no currency selector in the frontend...

Do I miss something?

TIA

Please double check before posting you are in VirtueMart 1.1 section NOT VirtueMart 1.0.x.

Please read the announcement(s) VirtueMart 1.0.x does not support Joomla 1.5 (http://virtuemart.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=263&Itemid=57)

Hi!

Now I finally found it here: http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=42104.0

When you say "module" you should also say _Joomla_ module :) Else user1.0 won't now. VM has modules/plugins too. Would be good to add this info to the pop-up help tooltips (blue question mark) in the appropriate VM config section.

Almost all major components have modules and plugins and they are referred as modules and plugins, not our fault users don't read or search.

Since VM has so many features it is easy to overlook things for newbies. The linked topic received 386 views - this tells something. So why not make a note in one of the tooltips. It really doesn't cost anything.
