My store is primarily for local pickup/delivery and I would like customers to choose a delivery time if they like us to deliver. I'm wondering how to add this option in the shipping module?

two ways i can think of:
The first, fast to do working in a jiffy. Con: big list for customers to choose from
add seperate shipping methods to the list for each delivery period e.g. deliver 10-12, deliver 14-16
The second, add a checkout step. This is "harder" for you need to code. Then if a shipping method is selected for which you said apply "Choose delivery" (a new to make option on the shipping method) the next step will be a new one to specify the time. This is a nicer solution.
If you go with option 1, I'll go with option 2 :-) I need it myself and it's on my waiting to do list to build if no nice solution is there. The next project so to say.
so when is the option 2 project going to be done? I appreciate your reply and the input. :)
my 2 cents here: I tried to modify the Joomla Events calendar components for virtuemart so that the delivery time can be configured at the vm backend. When a customer chooses local delivery, (s)he will be asked to choose a delivery time (date & time) from the calendar. thanks!
