Title: VM's position on Joomla
Post by: winfreepcs on July 05, 2007, 22:53:09 PM
I've emailed to Soren but haven't heard from him so apologies for posting in the forum.

There's a big hullaboo going on at Joomla.org, and a few big name developers already have jumped ship.

I'm about to sign a contract to develop a J! website with VM but before I do that, I need to know where VM stands on this issue.

I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking about this.

Tia for the update.

The "hullaboo" only concerns commercial extensions for Joomla.

Since VirtueMart is released under GNU/GPL licensing as Joomla is, there's no problem with VirtueMart/Joomla

@ colt 45 == Problems with SMF integration (not commercial) but still breaks Joomla license, so in future no support from SMF developers to bridge with Joomla.

@ Soeren == I am very curious how u integrated users from VM sites with forum users, or for new registered users, they must get separate ID on forum ??

SMF is not GPL they have their own license.
