Hi!

We are in the process of setting up a VirtueMart shop with Joomla and have the problem of configurating the shipping costs. VM uses weight for calculating the shipping costs. We have two different kinds of calculating shipping costs - some shipping costs are determined by weight, some by the amount of products ordered.

Can somebody tell me what is the easiest way for implementing a shipping cost calculation which is determined by product type? Are their appropriate addons available? If not, what would be the best way to implement this feature?

Just letting you know I have placed a new topic on this at http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=58784.0 which includes information on an extension that does exactly what you need as well as a number of other solutions.
