Title: New e-commerce website with VMart
Post by: Darko F. on February 25, 2026, 09:38:40 AM
So after a while I get client request to create for him a e-commerce website.

I already create few q years ago with Virtue Mart as Max well know since constantly bothering  him  :D

I like VMart because versatility but
before I proceed with Virtue Mart to decide if is worth here is questions.

What's status for J6 and extension for?

Is for J5 bug free?

Are extension for new VM stripe paypal klarna and other popular native or we need to pay third party development.

Are shipping extensions available apart default basic ones. I know old one calculate by rules don't work anymore at last it didn't years ago maybe someon upgraded it.

Is search for VM worth it. Old one was rubbish I need to go third party elastic search and home server. Is a unnecessary hustle.

So basically please give me hones opinion is Virtue Mart still relevant today?

And please after reading my post, don't think I don't want pay third party developers. I buy a lot from them in past, but reality today that competition offer this.
And since VirtueMart is now subscription based I don't expect any les from him

Thank you all God bless 😊

No answers? ... Personally, I lost my enthusiasm some time ago. It was a very good project.

I use J5 no problems at all.

I have lots of customs on my site, shipping plugins, estimated delivery, product plugins etc.

Same here. All works under J5. But we don't know nothing about the future of this project :( Last version from date 12/15/2025 and repository https://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/repository down to see updates/fixes...
