My personal opinion is the chance of a security problem with J3 are so small as to be irrelevant.
Far more chance of a major hole being found in J4 because it is new and immature...
I still have clients happily using J1.5 & VM1.1 and from the frontend you will never know...
You would think 1.5 would have run into a PHP issue by now.. good to know though...
I have a good host that supplies harden one click php back to php5.2
If your host is forcing you to php8 I'd change hosts
No I can go as low as 7.. but I know not 5.. I have 70 sites iv'e upgraded in the past 6 months full rebuilds to J4.. last one is mine that uses VM.. and I'm dead in the water without the ability to edit orders.. but knowing what you said about J3.. I feel a little better. I got burnt staying with 2.5 and had 50% of them compromised 2 years ago. went to J3 on all of them.. again needed full rebuilds.. I just don't want that to happen again..
