I trying to find out what version of MariaDB is compatible with what version of VM (and Joomla)

Is there a spec table list somewhere online?

If your db engine is compatible with Joomla. It should be compatible with Virtuemart

Ok. Do you know what version of MariaDB is best for Joomla?
I am using an old version now. So I think I need to update, but updating to the latest version is a no-go, because Joomla doesn't work properly anymore. (I can ask this question on the Joomla forum of course, but maybe someone here knows this?)
