I use Joomla! 3.10.11 VirtueMart 4.0.0 10645
for some time (more than a month for sure), when a customer completes the order, if his email address is gmail.com the order confirmation does not arrive.
While we get an error message like this:

You should contact your hosting service provider and seek a solution. You can do nothing to fix this issue in Joomla and VirtueMart.

are you saying that I have to contact the provider even if the problem occurs only with emails that start from Virtuemart?
I'm asking because if I send an email (to the customer who has just placed the order) from the same address that I also use for Virtuemart, I don't encounter any problems.
The message you posted talks about an SMTP issue with no relationship with VirtueMart. It looks like a mail server-related issue.
last week gmail change some security - you need contact your DNS provider and change setup.

from my mail account info@nomenegozio.it I send an email to my address mionome@gmail.com, my mail arrives regularly and I am not given any error message
when, on the other hand, I simulate a purchase on the site, using a myname@gmail.com test account as buyer, the purchase is completed regularly (in fact it appears in the list of orders), but as a buyer I do not receive the confirmation email to myname @gmail.com
and, at the same time, on info@nomenegozio.it I receive an error message of the type I inserted in the first post
practically:
info@nomenegozio.it send mail to mionome@gmail.com (everything is ok)
if, on the other hand, info@nomenegozio.it sends mail (via virtuemart) to mionome@gmail.com (the mail does not arrive and there is an error message)

DKIM, SPF, SMTP?

Then when do you send info we can continue
I'm definitelly convinced that you simply have an error in the settings of whatever you're writing there.
