Title: crazy link behavior
Post by: Alemantico on December 13, 2017, 13:31:46 PM
Dear Users,

After I finally were able to recover my site, I'm again confronted with another really very annoying behavior, caused from VM.  :-[:

I tried to fix something on the template, by only re-asigning to another one. Soon as I've done, now if I hit the menu icon for the online shop, and suddently it goes directly into the backend to the vendor option. I checked, the link inside the menu. But its still on "VM Front page". Btw,  I mean, the vm frontpage looks such cool, why did has being depreciated? Anyway, I added you 2 screenshots, where you can get a better picture about what I meant!
What I did so far:
• clearing & deleting all catches
• changing template assignments
• deleted and re-built the menu item
• disabling SEO Settings in the global configuration

Now, I've no damn idea anymore where that comes from and how the hell get rid of that! Should I re-install VM Framework? Anyone of you have an idea how to fix that?
thank you in advance for your time & ideas!

really unclear as to what you want and what you are trying to do

as well you must have a menu somewhere option=com_virtuemart ->  onlinestore alias

the old homepage is depreciated as having a menu to the vm root component gives you many more options and a fixed point of reference for the router

hi,GJC Web Design! Thank you for your quick reply! I really appreciate that! I could fix that issue, by updating to the newest joomla! Version 3.8.3. Anyway, I don't like the "Category Layout" because of the appearance of all the products just beneath the Categories. I prefer only the categories to be displayed. And the search option at the button; That layout looks so awkward! Could not spot the settings yet to manage that with that resp. menu option. Is there even one at all?

best regards!

Hi GJC Web Design,

sorry for the late reply! But yes, you're right! After playing for a while I finally figured out, when setting "Show products of the selected category" to "no", the products beneath disappear! Oki, thank you a lot for your lecture! But still; Even I enabled the shop description- they're gone! Or did I still miss to enable something else?

best regards!

There is up to 3 settings for any element in the category views

Globally in VM configuration ->templates
can be over ridden by
settings in the menu tabs
can be over ridden by
settings in the VM category dialog

sorry for asking you one more time, but
Quotevm category dialog
? Shall that be under VM Config? Because under product categories, somehow I can't find such settings there. Or did I just misunderstood?

best regards
