Title: (Checkout Issue) User Registration Disabled in Joomla

Running 3.2.4

I have user registration disabled in Joomla (I'd prefer this if possible) but on checkout i'm getting:

'User Registration Disabled in Joomla'

Do I NEED to have user registration enabled in Joomla for the Virtuemart checkout to work correctly?
