I just installed this new shop, http://korth-design.de/shop using an existing shop installation I had, deleting all shop data and setting it up new.
I am just trying to set it up right, VM is 3.2.3 and J! 3.7.4
when I try to go to a product detail page, to check the shopping cart etc, I get a 404. http://korth-design.de/shop/de/products/fidget-spinner/fidged-spinner-zero-detail (http://korth-design.de/shop/de/products/fidget-spinner/fidged-spinner-zero-detail)
What could be the problem?
Can it be an issue that the shop is located in a folder, which is not the root for the domain? (there is still a wordpress site at www.korth-design.de)
I also tried to get rid of old images and tables by using the tools in the backend, if that was an issue. I wanted to start from a clean VM as far as possible...
help appreciated.
Why not make a new Joomla installation, install VirtueMart and then install your template? That's the way I work.
Try with SEF turned off.
the subfolder is not a problem. The general advice for a real development environment is to work with subdomain plus subfolder. Are you sure that joomla get active? maybe WP does the answer.
Turn off sef and see what happens. This would be a good start. Then try with standard Protostar template.

A very simple solution was to tick "Display Subcategories in product detail" in template tab of configuration setting.
It's virtuemart magic [emoji23][emoji23]

The problem here is the legacy option. I explained also, why it was not possible to solve this backward compatible. With the time it just happened, that we used the same configuration word for 2 different features
yep, turning off SEF, that was helpful. Dunno what the reason is for the malfunction, but now at least the shop works again. Thanks!
I tried to tick the other option in the settings, but that would not work for me.
The legacy layout is enabled? I think,.. it is not enabled and so you got the problem with your old layout
