Post by: lindapowers on April 27, 2017, 12:06:18 PM
Hi

Is update to joomla 7.0 safe?

Current VM 3.2.1 prepared for it?

Regards

I prefer a clean install of Joomla and  virtuemart, then updating the database.

. shouldn't we wait for 1 or 2 week before updating to 3.7 on live sites?(for bug fixing reasons)

Seeing the number of issues reported in the Joomla forum and in the bug tracker I'm not updating any of my live sites yet.  https://issues.joomla.org/tracker/joomla-cms/

Hello

I have seen those issues too.
;)

I have done the updates on websites that should not be affetected by those issues.
I always do the updates on a clone first and test that everything is ok

After updating (joomla 3.7.0) I have almost everything in English in VirtueMart 3.2.1.
Translation does not work (50/50 in admin panel)

How do you filter correctly just the ones concerning 3.7? i'm not able to do it and have some J4.0 posts always present. Makes it hard to see if you're right or just paranoid :) (am joking, i agree with erring on side of caution...)

No idea .. but to just add some feedback..

I have completed 30+ migrations now to J3.7/VM3.2.2 (testers dev edition) and all have gone well.. some minor template issues and lang settings in the VM config need careful checking

None of the above are actively multi-lingual but many are dual eng/some other with just the other lang enabled
Also if your using the VM homepage or cat=0 as your site home page the settings for this can be tricky to get products to display on search etc

I have done a few J3.6.5 - J3.7 updates on non-VM sites with just a few issues, templating mainly. But IMHO there is no need to rush to update at the moment if you don't have the time/skill to sort out any issues.

The latest VM3.2.2 (from SVN) seems OK with J3.7, especially when using the Jooglies VM admin template.
