I have joomla 3.6.5
it worked perfectly
After Upgrade from virutuemart 3.0.18 to 3.0.19.8 categories and products are gone

In what view? FE or Admin

Did you test this?

Category views have changed and the vm frontpage is deprecated in the 3.0.19
