only found a topic regarding this from 2009 (with no answers).
I just migrated my shop from Joomla1.5/VM1 to Joomla3/VM3. In my old shop, when a customer would choose paypal as payment method and cancelled the payment during checkout (e.g. simply left the paypal site without completing the payment), he would find a "pay now" paypal-button in his order overview in the frontend and could still pay the order later.
With the VM3 shop and standard paypal plugin, when I abort a payment, I don't see such a button in my order overview. This means, when a customer cancels his paypal payment during checkout, he will have no possibility to complete the order..
Does anyone know the issue?

Yes, VirtueMart 1 had that feature but VirtueMart 3 does not. You have to use some 3rd party/custom extension to add this feature in VirtueMart 3.
When the shopper cancels he is redirected back to the cart where he can select an alternative payment method, if you have more thsn one, and complete the sale.
