Title: Related articles are not shown
Post by: nijboer85 on August 17, 2016, 12:13:59 PM
Hi all,
One of my clients wants to use 'related articles' in his webshop. I activated this in VM, but the articles are not shown in frontend.

It does show the 'related articles' title that I gave it in backend, but the rest is empty.
If I look at an article wothout related articles, it hides the title, so something is working.

The mistake also shows up when I use the default template.

VM version 3.0.17 and Joomla 3.6.2

have you chosen some in the custom fields of a product?

Yes, I have chosen a few related products in the backend for one of the products. It shows them nicely in the backend, but in the frontend of thewebsite, all I see is the title that I gave the 'Related Items' custom field in the backend.

they have stock? they have prices? No shopper group stuff?

It can only be a config problem if the related header appears..

@GJC Web Design

The product I have related products for, has stock, so have the items that are the related products.
They also all have prices.

In the config of the related products I can not chose any shopper group, so this could be an error maybe?

I have set up a testwebsite at the moment to see if I can get it to work. I have set this site to the standard Joomla template (Protostar). The site can be seen here: http://www.sigarenroker2017.oburon.nl/
I have attached the settings of the 'related products' page.

@GJC thanks for the reply. Sorry for the missing navigation. It is there but I went back to standard template to test.

Here's the complete url to an article where you can see the related articles are missing (the title is showing).

I agree they don't show but what is needed is some reverse debugging to find what is causing them not to be found...

your settings look fine, your on a std. template..  no one else appears to have this problem

GJC... any tips on what steps I could try to find out what is wrong. I tried a clean, new install of joomla and virtuemart and in that test setting it does work... So, as a last resort I could make a complete new website from scratch... but this is not my preference of course...

If a fresh install works then it must be relatively minor

in your over rides or if you have hacks then there..

you need to backtrace to see where the query fails

All of a sudden, the related articles show up on the product detail page. It seems that standard there are 2 products shown. How do I set this to 3 or more related products next to each other?
