Title: front end hangs after selecting variant

After upgrading from vm VirtueMart 3.0.10 to VirtueMart 3.0.16 I cannot select a sub product (variant) from the drop down anymore.
this version 3.0.10 works:

this version does not work anymore on 3.0.167:

select a date in the variant screen, and the screen hangs.

Disable the option called "Use jQuery chosen for dropdowns in FE" in VirtueMart Configuration under Templates tab. That should resolve the problem.

You should also disable jQuery Easy plugin. It is unnecessarily removing the core Joomla! 3 jQuery library and loading an much older version 1.8. Ideally you should not install this plugin in any Joomla! 3 site if all your 3rd party extensions are designed for Joomla! 3.

Please test the most recent vm3.0.17.4 first http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files

and just in case it does still not work, take a look on your template files and remove the override for your category view
