I've seen discussion on this but no good answers AND for earlier versions of joomla and vm. I would like to give certain users access to full virtuemart control but not joomla. can this be done, if so how. I'll have several others managing the vm side of things with products vendors etc.

I tried this no luck.
-add user to joomla,
-create new joomla group under super user 'virtuemart' the new group has all super user permissions except super user and access administrative interface.
what do I do in vm? the directions on the lilnk aren't clear and all other directions I saw are for older versions of vm.

Most VirtueMart functional areas (views), e.g. Product Categories, Tax and Calculation Rules, Orders, have the "Permissions" icon shown.
I did this both in joomla and in the 'permissions' tab through vm. I allowed all but the first one acl and options. when I log in with the created user I still can't see options just a joomla splash page. No virtuemart options. in joomla I allowed all except the admin interface and super user which are denied.
