I just upgraded to VM3.0.16 and the behavior of the back end has changed.
It used to be if I entered a SKU in the "Search Product" field and set the Vendor to "Please Select" the results would have products from ANY vendor. (like a * in a search).
Now I get no results. The vendor dropdown must have a selection.
Is this a bug or a feature? or perhaps my install got screwed up.
Can I change it so that I get results of products from any vendor ?

Sorry. You are correct.
I upgraded VM from VM3.0.14 to VM3.0.16 and then upgraded J! from J!3.4.8 to j!3.5.1
So now I have J3.5.1 and VM3.0.16
Since this has been significant in the past let me mention that VM is in multi-vendor mode.
Most of the products have a virtuemart_vendor_id of the correct vendor. Some are set to 1 (default). Some have a 0 - which poses a problem to view.
The administration Products search now requires me to enter a Vendor. If I leave the Vendor dropdown as "Please Select" no products are returned.
This is not very convenient.
Is there a workaround ? Is this a bug or intentional ?
I solved this problem by restoring J3.4.8 and VM3.0.16
I gather that multi-vendor is not a priority in the development.

At least I know what is going on now.
If the current functionality stays the same I will need to get out of mulitvendor mode.
Perhaps I will use extra data to indicate where a product is shipped from.
